I am sad to inform you all that David Mount died on Saturday 3rd December. If you would like to leave a comment for him and his family, or write a tribute to him, I will ensure they are passed on at the funeral. I would also appreciate it if you could encourage comments from any other MUD fans that you may know.

I heard about Daves passing a few days ago and am really shocked and saddened. He was always so much fun and game for a laugh when on stage or off and always had time for the fans. Its been a long time since I've seen him but I have never forgotten him or the rest of the band. They were a big part of my teenage years in the 70's.

Hope he's at peace now.
Love Janice

I am really shocked to hear this. Mud has always been my favourite band ever since I was a little child. I was really sad when I heard the news about Les and now Dave has gone too Crying or Very sad . I never got the chance to see him play live or to meet him and I do regret this. He was a brilliant drummer and although he was no longer active in the music bizz, I'd always hoped he'd get back behind the drums once again to play with the other guys.

May he rest in peace and my deepest thoughts go out to his family. I wish them the strength to carry on in these difficult times.

Crying or Very sad

So sorry!
To hear the sad news after a week.
Some MUD fans are together this evening in Antwerp, Belgium for concerts of Mud! and The Hollies. Unfortunately I was not able to go there. Would have given anything to be there as well, just to share the news.
Dave, you funny and undisturbable guy rest in peace. For those who are left behind: I hope you find a little strenght in knowing that someone in Holland had been admiraging him for more than 30 years, and will always be remembering him.

Gert.

What very sad news. Mud were one of my favourite bands as a teenager back in the 70's and I saw them lots of times at venues such as Tiffanys in Purley, The Rainbow and The Dome in Brighton. The last time I saw Dave was at Les' Memorial Gig at Hammersmith and it was incredibly emotional seeing him on stage with Ray and Rob - I can't believe that now he's gone too. Condolences to his family.

I have been broadsided all day by this news.
I knew Dave quite well in the mid 1970s because
we were on the same label, RAK Records.
Hence we would frequent the same corner pub
on Charles Street near the RAK office and chat.
Dave was gifted with a dry sense of humour
and an impish grin, which he used to full effect
following his clever quips.

I lost touch with him over the years
after moving back to New York, but we
met again at Brian Connolly's memorial jam session
at the Hard Rock Cafe in London 1999.
Dave and I talked that night about getting the old RAK gang
together (his idea) and going on a bus tour with some of the bands
playing shows around the UK and having it all filmed,
making a movie of it.
It was a brilliant idea. I wish we had done it.

A truly wonderful fellow has left us, and his loss is
phenomenally sad to anyone who knew him.

My deepest sympathy to Dave's family.
Also my thoughts go out to Mud's Rob and Ray,
who must be similarly grieved.

My condolences from Finland too to the family and all.
Just opened this forum and found out this sad message.
The foursome is inseparable in my mind. No one could
replace one of the blokes.

I've only just heard of the sad passing of Dave, and i can't believe that half of Mud are no longer with us, Mud were the reason I goit into music in the 70's. I still listen to their music on a regular basis, and it allways reminfs me that music then was fun performed by fun people, and Mud and dave epitomised that more than any other band.
Last chirstmas while watching the show lets bring back the christmas number 1 I was delighted to see Dave joining in and getting involved with music again even if it was only a one off.
Dave you will be saddly missed rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Dave. What a nice bloke.

I only found out from reading the paper today.

Mud were a great group - not only were they good at what they did, you could see they enjoyed doing it. There were no "airs and graces" or tantrums - what you saw is what you got.

I hadn't played any of my Mud records for a long long time and the day I did was the day that Les Gray died. Spooky eh?

I have very very fond memories of Mud concerts, smuggling the radio into school to listen to the charts to see if they'd got to number 1 etc.

My memories will stay with me. Thank you Dave for your sense of humour, your kindness and for being part of the group that made my teenage years fun.
